Couple #4

Happy Couple: Gema & Elvis
Wedding Date: March 2008
Location: Delray Beach, FL

For Gema and Elvis, the term “better, the second time around” couldn’t be more fitting. They barely knew each other in middle school and ended up in separate high schools; the outlook did not look promising, but a romance was definitely in their future.

Gema and Elvis saw each other again many years later. At her best friend’s bachelorette party one night they ran into each other at a club. Elvis, with his confident and outgoing personality, became the entertainment of the night. He danced with the group of girls. They had a great time with him. The “bachelorette” even joked with Gema about taking Elvis as a date to the wedding. Though Gema just laughed it off, he did remain in her head for the next few days.

A few weeks later a mutual friend invited both Gema and Elvis on an outing with a group. They got to know each other better and with each outing the group got smaller until it became just the two of them. They enjoyed each other’s company and learned a lot from one another, like the fact that they both moved down to Miami from New Orleans when they were young and later lived in the same neighborhood. They also had similar interests and shared the same background.

Three years have passed and their relationship has flourished. Friends, family, and of course Gema’s wish was finally fulfilled when Elvis proposed on a romantic outing on Valentine’s Day. The happy couple expect to share in a spring wedding together with their friends and families in 2008.

Couple #3

Hi, we are Kia and Terry. We were very lucky with how we met online. We were both new to Miami and met in October 2004 on craigslist.org through "Housing - Apartments for Rent." He did not get the place because of my other roomate's decision (they would have shared a bathroom and she wanted someone with more muscles). I am glad, dating a roomate would have been weird. We then met again on craigslist seven weeks later through "For Sale - Tickets." I wanted a ticket to go to a show by myself and he turned out to be the anonymous poster with an extra ticket for sale. He did not hold a grudge over the apartment and offered to drive since he knew where I lived. We talked to each other for hours, had a casual dinner at Pizza Rustica, and saw an amazing Kraftwerk show. We consider that night of 19 November 2004 our first date even though neither of us were searching for romance. We have been partners in crime since then.

The random special qualities about us are that we are environmentalists, we smile and laugh a lot, and we plan to surf together the morning of our wedding before we have to start getting ready. In our everyday lives I am a Biology graduate student and Terry is a data analyst.

We are getting married on 20 January 2008 on the beach of Punta Uva, Costa Rica. It is a destination wedding for us and we are looking forward to spending several days together with our friends and family in that slice of paradise.

We found this Simply Captivating Productions contest because of Erika. Her wedding was recently photographed by Melissa and she posted the contest on the local South Florida board of theknot.com.

Couple #2

My name is Grace and my amazing better half is Patrick. We are better known as the “Boogers,” that's our nickname for each other.

Let's see... we met in the 6th grade in Mr. Clarke's 1st period art class. We were friends all throughout middle school and high school. He had a few ugly girlfriends and, OK I’ll admit, I had a few ugly boyfriends. Finally senior year, we went to our high school prom together where during the last dance Patrick confessed his love for me. He said "I really like you and you are the only thing that would stop me from going to away to UF." Well, he's a Gator and I'm a Cane. We've been dating for four years and let's just say a long distance relationship is not as easy as it seems; but I rather have him far away then not have him at all. We got engaged December 24 (Christmas Eve), 2006 in beautiful NYC. We both graduate in May of this year and are looking forward to starting our brand new lives together, in the same city.

I heard about the contest through an e-mail I received from Simply Captivating Productions.

Our wedding date is set for April 12, 2008. Both of our parents got married on the twelfth so we wanted to maintain the tradition. We are getting married in sunny Miami , Florida . There simply is no place like home.

Couple #1

Evan Jacobs and Karen Johnson
Wedding date: April 6, 2008
Parkland Golf and Country Club
Heard about this contest on the Knot.com

The first four years of our relationship can be best described in two words, “long distance.” From Gainesville to Miami our college years were spent making weekend treks back and forth. Despite the odds, as well as one totaled car, many tears and astronomical phone bills, we made it and now live in the same city. On Thanksgiving, five months after I moved to Miami, Evan proposed to me on bended knee. He surprised me with a candle lit room, champagne, and beautiful pink roses. Evan is now in medical school at the University of Miami and I am currently a registered nurse working at Miami Children’s Hospital. We share a common love of medicine, family, entertaining, and funny looking dogs. We are looking forward to our April of 2008 wedding.
